Benefits of Trenchless Sewer Repair
When you think of sewer repair, you probably imagine your yard being torn up by a backhoe just to reach the broken pipes. While this used to be the only way to fix a sewer line, trenchless sewer repair has changed the way we approach sewer line repair and replacement jobs. This specialized service has many amazing benefits over the old way.
6 benefits of trenchless sewer repair are:
- Yard protection: The most obvious benefit of trenchless sewer repair is that it doesn’t make a large trench in your yard. Most jobs require little to no digging at all, so your yard and landscape remain in good condition after we’re done working.
- Lowered risk of flooding: Trenchless sewer repair is a very precise plumbing procedure. As such, the risk of hitting a nearby pipe and causing a flood in your yard is greatly reduced. We don’t need a heavy backhoe or tractor, either, which means we won’t risk breaking pipes by driving those industrial vehicles across your lawn.
- No root intrusion: In most cases, there is virtually no risk of root intrusion during and after a trenchless sewer repair job. The process leaves no room for roots to grow into the newly placed or repaired pipes.
- Faster project times: A trenchless sewer repair job is typically days, if not weeks, faster than a sewer line repair project that digs a trench. We are confident that you’ll be shocked at how quickly we can repair your sewer line this way.
- Shortened utility disruption: Some plumbing work requires that the water, gas, and electric utilities be shut off for safety reasons. The disruptions that you face will be much shorter because trenchless sewer repair work takes much less time.
- Quieter work: Your neighbors might complain if you have a loud backhoe digging up your yard all week. With trenchless sewer repairs, though, the work is much quieter due to the use of different equipment and tools. You can even go take a nap while our technicians work if you want!
How Does Trenchless Sewer Repair Work?
Now that you know the many benefits of trenchless sewer repair, you are probably wondering how it works. To begin, we can complete a leak detection service to find the extent of the damage if necessary. Next, we can discuss one of a few ways that we can fix or replace the pipe using trenchless methods.
Trenchless sewer repair is usually conducted using one of three methods:
- Trenchless pipe lining: Using this method, our plumbers will thread an epoxy resin-soaked pipe liner through the damaged pipe. As it is pulled through, the resin coats the inner lining of the pipe, repairing cracks, holes, and gaps. The resin can take as little as four hours to set, too, so you could be using your sewer system like normal again in no time.
- Pipe bursting: When an old sewer pipe needs to be completely replaced—such as if the pipe is so old that it is bound to catastrophically fail sooner than later—we can recommend pipe bursting. This method pulls a specific wired attachment through the pipe, breaking it into pieces and pushing those pieces aside into the dirt. We then pull the new pipe through the pre-existing pipeline, replacing the old one with ease.
- Directional drilling: Instead of replacing an old pipe with a new one in its exact place, we can use directional drilling to add a new pipe under or above the old one. This method is useful if there is a reason why breaking apart the old pipe would be problematic or more expensive.
All three methods share the same benefits, such as shortened project times, quieter work, and little to no damage to the landscape.
